In this multi-step tutorial, you'll learn
how to create a cool fire effect using Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Viewer is expected to have prior knowledge in Photoshop CS2 and feel a
little comfortable with
manipulating layers and animations.
Final Result:

1. Open your Adobe Photoshop CS2 Program and create a new image (ctrl + n) 400 x 400 pixels. The background should be transparent.
2. Reset your colors to default (press d). Now go to Filter >> Render >> Clouds. Press CTRL+F until you get some nice clouds.
3. Now go to Filter >> Render >> Difference Clouds. Press CTRL+F twenty times. Your image should now look something like this:.
4. Go to Image >> Adjustments >> Gradient Map. Click on the image that pops up. Change your colors to something that resembles fire. I used black, orange, yellow, and white.
5. Create a new Image. (CTRL+N) It should be 300 x 80 pixels. (transparent).
6. Now I want you to minimize the image, so that you can see the fire image in the background.
7. Now I want you to drag the fire image right over to the new image (Untitled-2). To do this, press V (on your keyboard), and click on the fire image. Use your mouse to drag the fire over to the new layer and let go. The fire image should be on both layers now.
8. Now make Untitled-2 full screen. I want you to align the top left corners of the fire image with the top left corners of Untitled-2. To do this, press V on your keyboard and drag the image until both corners are in alignment.
9. This is the time where you can add text. I made mine say www.neo-luv.com. You can make yours whatever you want, just do not put anything immediately on the fire layer. I also added a 2px border.
10. Now we'll begin the animation phase. Go to Window >> Animation to take out your animation tool. Now I want you to click on the button and duplicate your frame.
11. Make sure your second frame is selected, and press V on your keyboard. Click and drag the fire image up in a diagonal direction. Keep doing so until you align the bottom right side corners of both images up, much like you did in step 8.
12. Click on your first frame. Now click the button on Animation that says Tween. They look like chains.
13. Look at the image below and match your settings with it's settings.
14. Whew, almost done! Select your first frame, hit play, and watch the cool effect happen!
15. Save your image as a .gif or .GIF file, and you're good to go!
